Add 1 teaspoon and 1/4 teaspoon of active dry yeast to 1 cup of warm milk.
Add 1 teaspoon of sugar to the milk and yeast mixture to help feed the yeast, then mix.
Measure out 3 cups of all-purpose flour, leveling it off with a knife.
Remove 1/2 cup of flour for working the dough later.
Add 1/4 cup of softened butter and 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt to the flour.
Mix the softened butter into the flour until well incorporated.
Make a well in the flour mixture and add the yeast milk mixture and 1/4 cup of water to it.
Start working the dough, adding the reserved flour as needed until it becomes manageable.
Knead the dough in the bowl for a few minutes until it feels smooth.
Butter your hands and the dough ball, then make the sign of a cross on the dough.
Cover the dough with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 50 minutes.
Grease a muffin tin with butter.
Cut off pieces of dough and shape them into balls about the size of your thumb.
Place the dough balls into the greased muffin tin.
Rub the tops of the dough balls with more butter before covering them.
Let the dough balls rise for an additional 50 minutes due to the type of yeast used.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C).
After the second rise, place the rolls in the preheated oven and bake.
