In a bowl, combine 1 cup of raw milk, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of instant yeast. Stir well and let it rest for about 10 minutes.

In a separate bowl, mix 1 pound of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 teaspoons of vanilla sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds.

Add the milk mixture and 1/4 cup of oil to the dry ingredients.

Mix until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

Let the dough rest until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Save some dough, knead it again, and let it rest for about 10 minutes.

Roll the dough into a 12 by 18 inch rectangle.

Sprinkle 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts (or any kind of nuts or dried fruit) on top of the dough.
