Today, plăcintă are cherished not only in Moldova but also in neighboring countries, with each region adding its own twist to the fillings and preparation methods.

Pour warm water into a deep bowl.
Add 2 eggs, salt, and oil, then mix well.
Gradually add 1 kg of flour, mixing with a whisk and then by hand.
Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and slightly sticky.
Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces and shape into balls.
Cover the balls with plastic wrap and let them rest for at least 15 minutes.
For the filling, mix 1 kg of cottage cheese with salt and 2 eggs until well combined.
Roll out each dough ball into a thin circle.
Place a generous portion of filling in the center of each circle.
Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape and seal the edges.
Heat oil in two skillets to cover the bottom.
Place the plăcintă seam side down and fry on low heat under a lid until golden brown on both sides.
Transfer the cooked plăcintă to a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Optionally, brush with butter while warm.
