1 chopped onion
1.5 cups sour cream
3/4 cup mayonnaise

Heat a pan on medium and add olive oil.

Add the diced onions to the pan and sauté them for about 15-20 minutes until caramelized, stirring occasionally.

Add salt to the onions while they caramelize.

Check on the onions after about 6 minutes to ensure they are cooking evenly.

Once caramelized, turn off the heat and transfer the onions to a bowl.

Place the bowl in the freezer for about 20 minutes to cool the onions down.

In a separate bowl, add 1.5 cups of sour cream and 3/4 cup of mayonnaise.

Add the cooled caramelized onions to the sour cream and mayonnaise mixture.

Season with a couple cracks of salt, garlic powder, and pepper to taste, then mix well.

Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning with more garlic powder, pepper, and salt if needed.
