Soak 2 cups of rice for 30 minutes after washing to ensure the rice cooks evenly and has a chewy texture.

In a pot, combine the soaked rice and 500ml of water, and bring to a boil over high heat with the lid off until holes appear in the rice and the water reduces (about 3-5 minutes).

Once the water has evaporated, cover the pot and reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cooking for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, open the lid and place the bean sprouts on top of the rice, then cover again and cook for an additional 5 minutes to keep the bean sprouts crunchy.

Turn off the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes to finish steaming.
