Olive oil provides a healthier fat option.

Quinoa is higher in protein but may be more expensive.

Wash the rice by squeezing it together in water to remove starch.

Drain the water and repeat the washing process twice.

Add the washed rice to a pot.

Add 3 cups of water to the rice.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the pot.

Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pot.

Add the 2 sprigs of thyme to the pot.

Stir the mixture for about a minute until the butter melts.

Allow the mixture to come to a boil on medium heat for at least 5 minutes.

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low.

Cover the pot with foil and allow it to steam on low heat for 10 minutes.
