In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese, eggs, sugar, and semolina until smooth. If you want a lump-free dough, blend it with a hand blender. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for 40 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the plums. Pit and chop them into small pieces. In a saucepan, simmer the plums with sugar for 20 minutes until they soften and become jam-like.

Lightly dust your work surface with flour. Turn out the dough and roll it into a “sausage” shape. Cut into 3-4 cm wide pieces and roll each piece into a ball.

Prepare a steam bath (grease with oil or butter to prevent sticking). Place the dough balls in the steamer and cook for 8-10 minutes.

In a dry frying pan, toast the breadcrumbs over medium heat, stirring constantly, until golden brown.

To serve, spread the plum jam on a plate, place the cheese balls on top, and sprinkle with toasted breadcrumbs and a little sugar.
