Preheat oven to 400°F.
In a medium-sized saucepan, add 1/2 cup unsalted butter cut into 8 pieces and 1 cup water.
Add 1/4 teaspoon salt to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
Once boiling, add 1 cup of all-purpose flour all at once, then reduce heat to medium-low and stir until completely absorbed and clumping together.
Remove from heat and let cool for 1-2 minutes to avoid cooking the eggs when added.
Add 4 large eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition until the mixture is smooth and velvety.
Transfer the batter into a large piping bag fitted with a snipped end or piping tip.
Pipe 2.5-inch mounds onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart to allow for spreading.
