Rustic Apple Tart

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup ice water
4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt.

Add the chilled butter to the flour mixture and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Form into a ball, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until well coated.

On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a large circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
