Flaxseed meal is a vegan alternative that binds well.
Add milk, sugar, salt, yeast, and an egg into a bowl and mix them together.
Add softened butter to the mixture and blend well.
Add all-purpose flour and combine to form a shaggy mass of dough.
Transfer the dough onto a clean work surface and knead for about 7-8 minutes until soft.
If the dough tears easily, add half a tablespoon of water and knead again for 5-6 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
Divide the dough and shape into smooth round balls by tucking in the edges and rolling them.
Cover the shaped dough balls with a kitchen towel and let them sit for around 15 minutes.
Flatten the dough balls slightly and make a small hole in the center, widening it to form a donut shape.
Dust the tops with flour, cover with cling film, and let them rise in a warm environment for 35-40 minutes until puffy.
Heat oil in a pan to around 350°F (175°C) for frying the donuts.
Fry the donuts for about 1.5 minutes on each side until light golden brown, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
Place fried donuts on paper towels to absorb excess oil, then transfer to a cooling rack.
To make the glaze, mix 1 cup of powdered sugar with 1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk, adjusting the milk for desired thickness.
Once cooled, glaze the donuts with the prepared mixture.
