Take the prime rib roast out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 1-2 hours.
Prepare the compound butter (already made in a previous video) and let it come to room temperature.
Pat the prime rib roast dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Slather the room temperature compound butter all over the prime rib roast.
Season the roast with black pepper on top after applying the butter.
Add 2 cups of beef broth to the bottom of the roasting pan.
Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
Place the prime rib on a roasting rack in the pan.
Roast the prime rib at 450°F for 10-20 minutes to develop a nice crust.
Lower the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) after the initial roast.
Insert a thermal probe into the center of the roast and set it to alert at 125°F (52°C).
Continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches 125°F (52°C).
Remove the roast from the oven and cover it with foil to rest for 1 hour.
After resting, carve the prime rib and remove any strings tied around it.
