Grease and flour three round cake pans of different sizes.
In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

In a separate bowl, sift together cake flour and baking powder.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk until smooth.
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Prepare cream cheese frosting by beating cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
Level the cooled cakes with a serrated knife to ensure even stacking.
Place the largest cake layer on a cake board and frost the top with cream cheese frosting.
Stack the medium layer on top and frost again, repeating with the smallest layer.
Insert cake dowels into the bottom two layers for support.
Cover the entire cake with a thin layer of frosting to create a crumb coat, then chill for 30 minutes.
Roll out fondant and cover the cake, smoothing it out to eliminate air bubbles.
Decorate the cake with edible flowers or other decorative elements as desired.
