- ●1 large egg
Instructions
- 1Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2In a large bowl, combine flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- 3Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4Press half of the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan to form the crust.
- 5In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Spread the apple mixture over the crust.
- 6In a separate bowl, prepare the snickerdoodle topping by creaming together the softened butter and 1/2 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- 7Add the egg, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
- 8Sprinkle the snickerdoodle topping evenly over the apple filling in the pie.
- 9Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- 10Let the pie cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
