Variations abound across Italy, with regional toppings and styles, making it a favorite in homes and restaurants alike.

In a large bowl, mix 5 & ½ cups of all-purpose flour, ½ oz of dried yeast, and 2 tsp. of sugar.
Add 2 cups of lukewarm water and ¼ cup of olive oil to the dry ingredients.
Stir until a dough forms, then knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Transfer the risen dough to a greased baking sheet.
Press the dough into the sheet, creating dimples with your fingers.
Drizzle additional olive oil over the top and sprinkle with sea salt, garlic, and rosemary leaves.
Let the dough rise again for 20-30 minutes.
Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
Remove from the oven and cool slightly before slicing.
