Chop one small or medium sized white onion finely.

Add the diced onion into the olive oil and sauté until softened, about 5 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet and crumble it with a meat chopper until browned.

Drain off any excess grease using a paper towel.

Add a 4 oz can of diced green chilies to the skillet.

Stir in 8 oz of tomato sauce until combined.

Add the seasoning: 1 tablespoon chili powder, 2 teaspoons cumin, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, and 1 teaspoon kosher salt. Stir to combine.

Let the chili simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes.
