Ukrainian Garlic Bread Pampushky

Add warm water to a bowl.

Sprinkle 1 packet of active dry yeast over the warm water.

Add 1 teaspoon of sugar to the water and stir to dissolve.

Measure out 200 grams of bread flour and make a well in it.

Add the yeast mixture to the flour and mix well.

Cover and place the mixture in the refrigerator to rest overnight.

The next day, add 1.5 teaspoons of salt to the mixture and the remaining flour.

Knead the dough for about 6 minutes until smooth and supple.

Divide the dough into 8 pieces and shape them into balls.

Grease an 8-inch baking pan with sunflower oil and place the dough balls in it.

Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm spot.

Beat an egg with a bit of water and brush it over the tops of the proofed dough balls.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bake the dough balls for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.

Make garlic oil by pressing fresh garlic and mixing it with 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil and chopped parsley.
