Prepare the egg wash by whisking an egg with a splash of water.
Brush the tops of the pies with the egg wash for a golden finish.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
Carefully place the pies into the hot oil, a few at a time, without overcrowding.
Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Remove the pies from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon while still warm.
