Ricotta Pasta Bake

12 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni)
2 cups ricotta cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large egg
2 cups marinara sauce
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (optional)

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Add the cooked pasta to the cheese mixture and stir until the pasta is evenly coated.

Spread half of the marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.

Pour the pasta and cheese mixture over the marinara sauce in the baking dish.

Top with the remaining marinara sauce and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
