Steaming the patties allows them to retain moisture, resulting in a juicy burger that’s often served with a variety of toppings. This method has gained popularity beyond its regional roots, with many burger enthusiasts appreciating its distinct texture and flavor.

Grind your own roast to make fresh ground beef chuck or have your butcher grind it for you.
Measure out about 1 pound of fresh ground beef.
Add garlic flakes, onion flakes, black pepper, and coarse salt to the ground beef.
Form the beef into fairly compact patties with your hands.
Sear the patties on the grill for a few minutes on each side to get a nice texture and flavor.
Place the seared patties in a large black iron pan.
Pour some of your favorite beer around the patties to create steam.
Cover the pan and steam the patties for about 4-5 minutes, depending on the heat of your coals.
Add grated cheddar cheese on top of the patties and move the pan off direct heat to slowly melt the cheese.
After a couple more minutes, check if the cheese is melted and the burgers are ready to serve.
Serve the steamed cheeseburgers on slices of fresh white bread with ketchup and fresh onion, or any condiments you like.
