Thanksgiving Fruit Soup Vomacka

Chop up the dried fruit, avoiding hard candied fruits like dried pineapple or mango.
Dump the chopped dried fruit into a 2 to 3 quart pot.
Add 2 to 3 liters of water to the pot and turn the heat on high to bring it to a boil.
Let the mixture simmer for about 25 minutes until the fruits are tender.
Add Ginger Snap cookies, dark brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon to the pot.
Mix everything together and bring the pot back to high heat to boil.
Turn off the heat and add nuts (pistachios and blanched sliced almonds).
Add 1/4 cup of Grand Marnier or substitute with orange juice if preferred.
Let the soup come to room temperature before storing.
