Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and black pepper; mix until smooth.
Spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
Layer cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, half of the mozzarella, half of the fontina, and a sprinkle of parmesan and gorgonzola.
Repeat the layering process with another layer of noodles, marinara sauce, and cheeses, finishing with a final layer of noodles and remaining marinara sauce on top.
Top with remaining mozzarella, parmesan, and gorgonzola cheeses.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
