Milo Cookies

Cultural Context

Milo cookies are a delightful treat popular in various countries, including Spain, where they are enjoyed as a sweet snack or dessert. The combination of Milo powder, which is a chocolate and malt powder, with traditional cookie ingredients creates a unique flavor that appeals to both children and adults. These cookies are often made for gatherings, potlucks, or simply as a comforting homemade snack. In recent years, variations have emerged with added ingredients like nuts or dried fruits, making them a versatile treat loved by many.

1

In a bowl mix together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

2

In another bowl cream butter and sugar. Add egg, vanilla and milo powder. Mix well.

3

Pour wet ingredients over dry ingredients. Mix until it forms into a cookie dough.

4

Scoop a spoonful of the cookie dough and roll into a ball (If it’s too sticky grease your hand with cooking oil). Then flatten it using the palm of your hand. Make it a bit thin so it will be easier to cook. Repeat process until you finish all the cookie dough.

5

Grease pan with butter or cooking oil. Heat pan in medium heat then set it to low flame.

6

Put flatten cookie dough in the pan. Cover the pan (you can also use aluminum foil to cover the pan). Cook in low heat for 20-25 minutes.

7

Then let it cool completely, don’t worry if it’s still a bit soft once it cooled down if will harden up.
