Warm 1.5 cups of milk in the microwave for about 45 seconds until lukewarm.
Add 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1.5 teaspoons of dry yeast to the milk and mix. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1.5 teaspoons of salt.
Melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds.
Add the melted butter to the flour mixture.
After 10 minutes, add the yeast mixture to the flour and butter mixture.
Using a stand mixer with a dough hook, mix the dough on slow speed for 2-3 minutes until it's not sticky.
Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
Transfer the risen dough to a pastry board and roll it into a thin, long shape.
Pinch the ends of the rolled dough and place it on a prepared baking tray with baking paper.
Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it rise for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 390°F.
Whisk 1 egg for egg wash and brush it generously over the dough.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes until dark golden brown.
Let the bread cool before slicing.
