Gather dry ingredients: 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder, 1 to 1 and 1/2 tablespoons organic cane sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon toasted soybean powder.
In a medium-sized bowl, add the matcha powder and a bit of hot water (about the amount of a shot glass or two).
Use a whisk (a traditional Japanese bamboo whisk is preferred) to mix the matcha until completely dissolved.
Transfer the matcha drink into a 12 oz serving cup.
Add the organic cane sugar and toasted soybean powder directly over the matcha and stir quickly.
Heat about 1 cup and 1/4 of milk in the microwave (or on the stove) until hot.
In a medium-sized bowl, pour the hot milk and whisk vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds until thick foam forms.
Transfer the frothed milk into a container for easier pouring.
Pour the hot milk over the matcha mixture and scoop the remaining foam over the top.
Dust the foam with matcha powder using a small powdered sugar spoon for garnish.
Optionally, serve with a piece of chocolate or red bean Jell-O.
