- ●1/4 cup water
- ●2 cloves garlic, minced

- ●2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, water, garlic, ginger, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- 2Place the chicken thighs in a large resealable bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over the chicken.
- 3Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for better flavor.
- 4Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 5Remove the chicken from the marinade and place it in a baking dish. Reserve the marinade for later.
- 6Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- 7While the chicken is baking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- 8Once the chicken is done, remove it from the oven and brush it with the thickened marinade.
- 9Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
- 10Serve the shoyu chicken with rice or steamed vegetables.

- 7Flip the chicken thighs over and sprinkle with chopped rosemary if using.
- 8Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and roast for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 9Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
