1

Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).

2

Crack 3 egg yolks and 2 whole eggs into a jug and whisk them together.

3

Add a full can of sweetened condensed milk to the egg mixture and mix well.

4

Add a splash of vanilla extract to the mixture.

5

Add evaporated milk to the mixture and combine.

6

In a pot, add about 1/4 cup of sugar and cook on low to medium heat until it melts and turns golden brown.

7

While the sugar is melting, fill a roasting pan with water about halfway up.

8

Once the caramel is ready, pour it into the bottom of a baking dish.

9

Pour the egg and milk mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.

10

Gently place the baking dish into the roasting pan filled with water.

11

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 to 60 minutes, checking to ensure the center is wobbly but the sides are set.

12

To loosen the flan, run a knife under hot water, wipe it off, and run it along the edges.
