Today, variations exist across the Balkans, with each region adding its unique twist to this beloved bread.

Mix 2.5 dl of water, 1/3 of fresh yeast, and 1/2 tbsp of white sugar in a bowl.
Add white flour and a pinch of salt, then stir.
Knead the dough until it is soft and sticky, ensuring it sticks to your hands.
Oil the dough and let it rest for about 15 minutes at room temperature.
Divide the dough into equal pieces and shape them into balls, pulling the edges into the center.
Place the dough balls on a well-floured baking tray in a zig-zag manner.
Cover with a dishcloth or plastic film and let them rise for about 10 minutes.
Stretch the dough from the middle towards the ends and let them rise for another 10-15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 300°C (572°F).
Bake the dough in the oven until finished, then cover with a dishcloth and let cool for about 10 minutes.
