Start with corn on the cob still in the husk.
Peel back the husk to expose the corn, keeping the husk as intact as possible.
Remove the silk strands from the corn.
Take a stick of cold butter and use it like a glue stick to rub butter along the corn.
Season the corn heavily with salt and black pepper after buttering.
Re-wrap the corn in the husk to preserve moisture and flavor while smoking.
Prepare the smoker, setting it to 250°F.
Place the corn directly in the smoker and close it up.
Smoke the corn for about 1 hour, checking occasionally.
After 1 hour, remove the corn from the smoker and check for doneness; the husk should be crispy.
