eggless donuts - 2 ways | baked & fried doughnuts recipe | no yeast, with whole wheat flour

- ●2 cups all-purpose flour
- ●1/2 cup granulated sugar
- ●1/2 tsp salt
- ●2 tsp baking powder
- ●1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- ●1/2 cup milk
- ●2 large eggs
- ●2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- ●1 tsp vanilla extract
- ●Vegetable oil for frying
- ●Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and nutmeg.
- 2In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- 3Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
- 4Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently until smooth, about 1 minute.
- 5Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out donuts using a donut cutter or two round cutters.
- 6Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- 7Carefully place the donuts in the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
- 8Remove the donuts from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- 9While still warm, dust the donuts with powdered sugar or your choice of toppings.
- 10Serve warm and enjoy!

- 2In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
- 3In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- 4Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined; do not overmix.
- 5Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- 6Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- 7Remove from the oven and let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- 8Optional: Once cooled, you can glaze or dust the donuts with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.
