  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and nutmeg.
  2. 2In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. 3Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
  4. 4Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently until smooth, about 1 minute.
  5. 5Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out donuts using a donut cutter or two round cutters.
  6. 6Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  7. 7Carefully place the donuts in the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
  8. 8Remove the donuts from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. 9While still warm, dust the donuts with powdered sugar or your choice of toppings.
  10. 10Serve warm and enjoy!

  1. 1Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. 2In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  3. 3In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. 4Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. 5Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. 6Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. 7Remove from the oven and let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. 8Optional: Once cooled, you can glaze or dust the donuts with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.
