Cut the onion into small pieces.
Cut the green pepper down the middle and dice into small pieces.
Heat a skillet and add the hamburger meat.
Chop the hamburger meat into small pieces while cooking.
Once the meat is almost done, add the diced green peppers and onions to the skillet.
Cook until the onions are translucent and the vegetables are mixed well with the meat.
Add 2 teaspoons of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder to the meat mixture and stir.
Make sure to drain any excess fat from the hamburger meat before adding the seasonings.
Add 2 (8 ounce) cans of tomato sauce to the meat mixture and stir.
Add 3 tablespoons of BBQ sauce and 1 tablespoon of mustard to the mixture and stir well.
Add brown sugar to taste, suggesting about 2 tablespoons if using 1.5 pounds of meat.
Let the mixture cook down for a bit before serving.
