Start with the bottom layer of the pizza by adding some flour and flattening it out.
Prepare a thick pan by adding olive oil to coat it.
Stretch the pizza dough to cover the pan, ensuring the sides are stretched out.
Add a pound of mozzarella cheese to the interior of the dough, avoiding the outer layer.
Add a couple layers of ham on top of the cheese.
Sprinkle parmesan cheese over the ham layer.
Roll out a thinner top layer of dough to place on top of the filling.
Seal the edges of the top layer by tying it together to prevent cheese from escaping.
Add olive oil to the top of the dough and smudge it around.
Make holes in the dough to allow gas to escape during baking.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and bake the pizza for 20 minutes before adding the onions.
Saute onions in olive oil, seasoning with salt and pepper, until softened.
Drain the sauteed onions to remove excess moisture.
After 20 minutes, take the pizza out of the oven and add the drained onions on top.
Sprinkle more grated parmesan cheese on top of the onions.
Add a little more olive oil to the top of the pizza and return it to the oven.
Bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and cooked through.
