Uzbek Flatbread

Originating from the rich culinary traditions of Central Asia, Uzbek Flatbread, or Lepeshka, is a staple in Uzbek households. Traditionally baked in a tandoor, this flatbread is often served alongside meals, symbolizing hospitality and community. Today, it has gained popularity beyond Uzbekistan, with variations found in many cultures, showcasing the universal appeal of freshly baked bread.

Preheat the oven to a high temperature, around 475°F (245°C).
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions.
Shape each portion into a round flatbread, about 1 inch thick.
Place the flatbreads on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Brush the tops with oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
