1 thumb-sized piece of ginger

Add 2 tablespoons of neutral cooking oil to the pan.

Sear the beef in a single layer for 2 to 4 minutes until well seared, flipping after 1 minute.

Transfer the seared beef to a plate.

In the same oil, add chopped white onion and cook for 1 minute until soft.

Add 4 cloves of crushed garlic and grated ginger, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Toast spices (curry powder, cinnamon powder, garam masala, cumin powder, fennel seeds, cardamom pods, turmeric) with the onion, garlic, and ginger for 30 seconds.

Add 2 medium blended tomatoes and 1 tablespoon of tomato paste to the pan, stirring to combine.

If the pan is drying out, add a splash of water and let the tomatoes cook for 1 to 2 minutes.

Add 3 chopped medium potatoes, 1 chopped medium carrot, and salt to the pan, along with the beef and its juices.

Toast the vegetables and beef with the tomato mixture.

Add 2 cups of water, stir, and bring to a boil, checking seasoning.

Cover and simmer over medium flame for 30 minutes to 1 hour until potatoes are soft and beef is tender.

Slice 600 grams of white bread with a serrated knife and hollow it out.
