1 pound okra
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Wash the okra and trim the ends.

Cut the okra into 1/2 inch slices.

In a bowl, pour 1 cup of buttermilk over the sliced okra and mix well.

In another bowl, combine 1 cup of cornmeal, 1 cup of flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.

Take the okra from the buttermilk and dredge it in the cornmeal mixture, ensuring each piece is well coated.

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated okra to the oil in batches.

Fry the okra for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, stirring occasionally.

Remove the fried okra from the oil and place it on paper towels to drain excess oil.
