100 gms of Lentil or Toor dal
1 Onion cut into pieces
15 shallots cut into pieces
25 gms of ginger
25 gms of garlic
1 tomato cut into pieces
2 Green chillies
1 liter of water
Salt to taste
20 ml of oil

Boil two and a half cups of water. Put in salt to taste and 5 ml of oil and mix.

Add 1 cup of washed and soaked rice and cook for 15 minutes.

Take the lentils in a cooker and add 300 ml of water and cook for 15 minutes if in a pressure cooker and 90 minutes if in a pan.

Heat a pan and pour in 10 ml of oil.

Put in the onion pieces, shallots, garlic and ginger and sauté until the onions are golden brown.

Add the tomatoes and the green chillies and sauté well.

Then add salt to taste and sauté and mix well.

Add the cooked lentils and mix well and let the mixture thicken.

Add the rice that we cooked little by little and mix.

Cook for 3 minutes in low flame and take off and serve.
