ItalianITmain
90 min
medium
4 servings
Servings4
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tsp active dry yeast
3/4 cup warm water
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup marinara sauce
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Oil for frying
1

In a bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.

2

Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

3

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

4

Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

5

In a separate bowl, mix ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, black pepper, oregano, and garlic powder to make the filling.

6

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces.

7

Roll each piece into a circle about 6 inches in diameter.

8

Place a spoonful of the cheese filling and a small amount of marinara sauce in the center of each circle.

9

Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.

10

Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat and fry each panzerotto until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

11

Remove from oil and drain on paper towels before serving.
