Christmas Toffee Bark

1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
a generous pinch of salt
1 cup dark chocolate wafers or chocolate chips
3/4 cup roasted pecans, finely chopped

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Have all your ingredients measured and ready before starting.

In a medium-sized pot, combine butter, sugar, and salt.

Stir frequently over medium heat until the butter melts.

Bring the mixture to a boil.

Once boiling, attach a candy thermometer without it touching the bottom of the pan.

Stir occasionally as the mixture thickens. It will gradually turn a golden brown hue.

Keep cooking the toffee for about 10 min until it reaches the hard crack stage at 305°F/151°C on the candy thermometer.

Immediately remove from heat once the temperature is reached.

Pour the toffee onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it evenly. Allow to cool for 3-5 min.

Sprinkle chocolate chips over the toffee. Allow them to melt, then spread the chocolate evenly.

Sprinkle finely chopped roasted pecans and Christmas sprinkles on top.

Transfer to a refrigerator to cool for 10-15 min.

Once fully set, break the toffee bark into irregular pieces using your hands or a knife.
