Wash 3 large tomatoes and slice them thickly using a tomato slicer.

Layer the sliced tomatoes in a baking dish, overlapping them as needed.

In a mixing bowl, combine 6 tablespoons of whole wheat bread crumbs.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil to the bread crumbs.

Add 1 teaspoon of garlic powder to the mixture.

Pour in 4 teaspoons of olive oil and mix until well combined.

Top the layered tomatoes with the bread crumb mixture, covering the tops of the tomatoes as best as possible.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes or until the breadcrumb topping is lightly browned to your taste.

Let the dish rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
