Determine the coffee to water ratio of 1 to 20.
Calculate the amount of coffee needed for 600 grams of water: 600 divided by 20 equals 30 grams of coffee.
Grind the coffee to a coarse medium grind, similar to a V60 or batch brew.
Remove the plunger from the French Press and add the ground coffee to it.
Set the French Press on a scale and tare the scale to zero.
Prepare water at 90°C (194°F) or cool down standard kettle water slightly to avoid scorching the coffee.
Pour 100 grams of water over the coffee to bloom for the first 30 seconds, allowing gases to escape.
Stir the coffee to ensure all grinds are fully saturated.
After 30 seconds, fill the French Press with water up to 600 grams.
Let the coffee brew for a total of 4 minutes without stirring or agitating it.
At the 4-minute mark, slowly press down the plunger to separate the grounds from the liquid, avoiding agitation.
Once fully plunged, decant the coffee into another container to stop the brewing process.
Pour yourself a cup of French pressed coffee and enjoy.
