Grease a 9x13 glass casserole or oven-safe dish with butter and set aside.
Soak 1 cup of dried apricots in boiling water for 15 minutes.
In a small pan over moderate heat, melt 4 tsp of butter, then add 1/4 cup of apricot jam and a sprinkle of cinnamon (about 1 tsp); stir to combine and turn off the heat.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of whole milk, 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 cup of cottage cheese, 1 cup of sour cream, 4 oz of room temperature cream cheese, and 4 tbsp of melted butter; whisk vigorously, smushing the cream cheese against the bowl if needed.
Add 4 eggs to the mixture and whisk again to combine.
Add 1 cup of granulated sugar, 2 tbsp of vanilla extract, 1 tsp of almond extract, 1 tbsp of cinnamon, and 1 tsp of kosher salt; whisk to combine.
Chop the soaked apricots and add them to the mixture along with 1 cup of golden raisins.
Bring salted water to a boil in a large pot, then add 500 g of egg noodles and cook for 9 minutes until al dente; strain and add directly to the bowl with the custard mixture.
Gently stir everything together until combined, then transfer to the greased baking dish.
Sprinkle the top with 1 cup of sliced almonds and pour the apricot glaze over the top, smoothing it out with a pastry brush if desired.
Sprinkle granulated sugar across the top for added sparkle.
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is brown and bubbly.
Let the kugel cool for at least 30 minutes before serving, or cool completely if you prefer it cold.
Cut into 12 portions using a sharp knife and serve.
