1

In a large bowl, combine milk, yeast, egg, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Whisk until well combined.

2

Add flour and mix for 1 minute. Stir in melted butter and mix for 6-8 minutes.

3

Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.

4

Stir in mixed fruit and mix evenly. Cover the dough and let it rest for another 20 minutes.

5

Divide the dough into 9 equal pieces and shape them into long, even strands.

6

Create a 4-strand braid, a 3-strand braid, and a 2-strand twist.

7

Gently press the 4-strand braid into a flat shape with a rolling pin. Brush the top with a mixture of beaten egg and milk.

8

Place the 3-strand braid on top of the flattened 4-strand braid, and then the 2-strand twist on top of the 3-strand braid.

9

Cover the braided dough and let it rise for 75-90 minutes, or until doubled in size.

10

Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).

11

Brush the top of the bread with the egg and milk mixture.

12

Bake for 35 minutes, or until golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

13

Let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
