Make a syrup by combining sugar and a tiny bit of water in a saucepan until it becomes a firm caramel.
Whip together eggs, sweetened condensed milk, and regular milk (or coconut milk for more flavor).
Pour the syrup into the flan mold.
Pour the egg mixture over the syrup in the mold.
Prepare a double boiler by placing the flan mold in a larger tray filled with one inch of water.
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Bake the flan in the oven for 45 minutes until fully cooked.
Let the flan cool and then refrigerate overnight.
Invert the flan onto a serving plate.
