Seasoned Rice Pilaf

In American kitchens, it has evolved into a versatile side dish, often made with seasonal vegetables and herbs. This dish is a staple for family dinners and potlucks, showcasing the simple yet comforting nature of rice. Today, variations abound, with different grains and flavor profiles being embraced globally.

Dried thyme can add flavor without the cost of bay leaves.
Add 1 cup of jasmine rice to the pan and wash it until the water runs clear.
Add 1.5 cups of water to the washed rice.
Add a little drop of oil and a little pinch of salt to the rice.
Add coriander for extra flavor and mix well.
Cover the pan and let it steam on low heat for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Once the rice is cooked and fluffed, set it aside.
In a frying pan, add a little bit of butter.
Grate 1 medium carrot into the pan.
Add black pepper and all-purpose seasoning to the grated carrot and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
Add the cooked rice to the pan with the carrot mixture and mix well until combined.
Plate the carrot rice and serve it with stewed turkey and seasoned pasta.
For the rice and peas, soak 1 cup of kidney beans overnight.
Add the soaked kidney beans to a pot with water, cover, and boil for about an hour until soft.
Add a piece of frozen coconut milk, salt, and all-purpose seasoning to the beans.
Add spring onions and 1 scotch pepper, cover, and let it boil for another 10 minutes.
Wash 1 cup of jasmine rice and add it to the pot with the beans mixture.
Mix well and cover the pot, letting it steam for 15 to 20 minutes until done.
Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork and remove the scotch pepper and spring onions.
