Pick out fresh corn on the cob, ensuring the outer casing is not dry or brittle and the tassel is brown and sticky.

Unshuck part of the corn and remove as much silk as possible.

Brush butter over the corn and season with salt and pepper.

Put the layers of corn husk back up on the corn loosely.

Place the corn in the microwave and cook for 4 minutes.

After 4 minutes, remove the corn from the microwave and let it cool slightly before unshucking.

For the second method, place the whole unshucked corn directly in the microwave and cook for 4 minutes.

After cooking, cut off the end of the corn and hold it by the tassel to shake the kernels out, which should come out easily with the silk still inside.

If cooking more than two pieces of corn, increase the cooking time to 6 minutes.
