Miso Caramel Sauce

heavy cream

Coconut cream provides a similar texture with a dairy-free option.
butter

Olive oil is a healthier fat alternative.
Add sugar to a saucepan.
Add a little bit of water and stir until the sugar dissolves.
Swirl the saucepan instead of stirring to avoid crystallization.
Wait until the mixture turns a nice golden brown.
If mixture goes up the edge of the pan, use a brush dipped in water to clean it down.
Add heavy cream and butter to the caramel and mix well.
Let the mixture thicken before adding miso paste.
Stir in red miso paste until well combined and smooth.
Check for a gorgeous consistency to know it's done.
Store the sauce in a mason jar.
