Harvest several leaves of Swiss chard, including green and rainbow varieties.
Thoroughly clean the Swiss chard.
Mince 2 to 3 garlic cloves.
Chop 1 small onion.
Chop the Swiss chard leaves and stems, keeping them separated.
For softer greens, add the Swiss chard leaves to boiling water for 2 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
In a large skillet, sauté the onion and Swiss chard stems in butter and olive oil until soft.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
Mix in 1 tablespoon of flour and cook for 1 minute.
Whisk in 1 cup of heavy cream and simmer until thickened.
Add Parmesan cheese, nutmeg, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Stir in the Swiss chard leaves until they are evenly coated.
Serve the creamed Swiss chard warm as a side dish.
