The combination of sweet plantains with a caramelized orange glaze creates a delightful contrast that enhances the dish's flavor. Today, this recipe has gained popularity beyond the Caribbean, celebrated for its simplicity and deliciousness.

Cut off the ends of the plantains and peel them.
Slice each plantain into thick pieces, cutting each into thirds and then in half.
Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet.
Add the plantain slices to the skillet and fry until browned on one side.
Flip the plantains to brown the other side.
In a separate pot, combine 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of sweet vermouth over low heat to melt the sugar slowly.
Add a cinnamon stick and 4-5 whole cloves to the pot and let it simmer.
Add 1.5 to 2 tablespoons of hot sauce to the mixture, depending on desired spice level.
Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves from the sauce after simmering.
Pour the sauce over the caramelized plantains and let simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.
Turn off the heat and drizzle heavy cream over the plantains before serving.
