Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
Butter the baking dish thoroughly since parchment paper is not available.
In a saucepan, combine 250 grams of butter, 150 grams of brown sugar, 3 tablespoons of golden syrup, and 75 grams of dark chocolate.
Melt the mixture over low heat until combined, stirring occasionally.
Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Roughly chop 75 grams of brazil nuts and add them to the mixture.
Chop 75 grams of cherries in halves and add them to the mixture (optional).
Add 30 grams of cocoa powder to the mixture and stir well to combine.
Add rolled oats to the mixture and stir until evenly coated.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and press down firmly with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the dish for 10 minutes before lifting out.
Let cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares or bars.
