Separate the chicken thighs and drumsticks, using 6 pieces total.

In a bowl, mix together chili flakes, garam masala, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Add half of the spice mixture to the chicken pieces and reserve the other half for later.

Mix the chicken pieces with vegetable oil using your hands until combined.

Heat a pan over medium heat and add vegetable oil.

Place the chicken pieces skin side down in the pan and brown for about 3-5 minutes, turning until both sides are browned.

Remove the browned chicken from the pan and set aside.

Slice one medium white onion and add it to the same pan, sautéing for 30-45 seconds.

Add 3 crushed garlic cloves to the pan and cook for another 30 seconds until browned.

Add the reserved spice mixture to the pan and mix well for about 1-2 minutes.

Measure 2 cups of Thai Jasmine rice, wash it, and add it to the pan, combining everything for 1-2 minutes.

Add water or chicken stock, using a ratio of 2 cups of liquid for every 1 cup of rice.

Juice half of a lemon into the pan and mix well for about 1-2 minutes.

Cut the other half of the lemon into thin slices and place them on top of the rice in the pan.
