Boil water in a pot.

Add 1/2 cup elbow macaroni to the boiling water.

Cook the macaroni until al dente and drain in a colander.

In a separate saucepan, add 1 cup milk and 2 tablespoons butter.

Add 1 teaspoon salt and a pinch of black pepper to the milk and butter mixture.

Stir and heat until combined, but do not overcook.

Add 1/3 cup cheddar cheese to the mixture and stir until melted.

Remove from heat once the cheese is melted and the mixture is creamy.

Serve the mac and cheese warm.
